The technology - Tremco has been a leader in the development of products and technology for some of the most demanding requirements and special needs of architects, engineers, contractors and building owners. Tremco pioneered the development of

  • Drying oil treatment processes to produce oils especially for caulking compounds

  • Some of the first synthetic polymers especially for use in sealants – Mono-Lasto-Meric

  • DYmeric®, a multi-component urethane which introduced the color pak system.

  • Pre-Shimmed 440 Tape and Polyshim Tape, preformed glazing tapes incorporating an integral shim

  • Advanced Silicone Technology™, which provides the outstanding performance of silicones with uncompromising adhesion and exceptional resistance to dirt pickup and staining

  • Spectrem® 4-TS, the only silicone sealant with the ability to tint on-site, making last-minute changes on the job easy and affordable particularly where multiple colors are incorporated in the design

  • TREMproof® 250 GC, a one-part, cold fluid-applied elastomeric waterproofing membrane that can be applied to “green” or damp concrete and cures within four hours problem-free

  • ExoAir™ Air Barrier Systems, the first totally integrated air barrier system including compatible silicone and urethane sealants and fluid-applied air & vapor membranes designed for spray application to ensure efficiency and ease of installation

  • TremGlaze S900, the only in-plant back bedding sealant in the construction of windows and door products that exhibits green strength development in less than 15 minutes (allowing for improvement in productivity and unit handling while reducing the potential for sash distortion), develops a full cure in 3 hours and requires no capital investment since it is designed for use on conventional pumping and automated XY application equipment
The people - No other company in the industry has experienced field represent atives in every major market across the country solely focused on working side-by-side with customers and specifiers to ensure project success. Employing more than 1,700 people worldwide, Tremco Global Sealants Division is uniquely positioned to provide assistance for specification development, application-specific product development, problem-solving and assistance on-site.

Key initiatives

Protective Glazing - Protection against manmade and natural disasters is a key concern for today’s owners, specifiers, architects and contractors. Tremco’s structural silicone glazing bonds glass to a curtain wall’s structural framing members, transferring dynamic wind loads and impact from the glass through the structural silicone sealant to the curtainwall framing. The structural silicone sealants, which have been tested with major curtainwall and window manufacturers in North America, provide the excellent adhesion, tensile strength and flexibility critical to withstanding wind cycle loads and missile impacts. The industry’s most stringent performance standards have been either met or exceeded for hurricane, impact and blast resistance.

Green Building - The environmental impact of buildings is becoming increasingly more apparent every day. As awareness has grown, new earth- friendly products have been developed and other breakthroughs in building science, technology and operations in order to provide healthier and more resource-efficient construction. Tremco Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing has focused resources on being at the leading edge of that movement with innovative product offerings, comprehensive technical resources and by having a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional (AP) on staff, one of only a handful in the manufacturing segment. This commitment to Green Building enables Tremco to help customers facilitate sustainable design and LEED application documents by providing the knowledge and guidance necessary for implementation. A database of LEED, Energy Star™ and other documentation for all Tremco products is maintained on this website to facilitate LEED submittals. Tremco is also teaming up with independent academic and government entities to monitor the life-cycle benefits of green roof technology and provide data needed by building owners to consider these environmentally responsible building strategies.

Green Roofs - Few products provide as comprehensive a solution to as broad a range of concerns and issues as green roofs. Cities are struggling to cope with growth and economic development. Combined sewage overflow systems in 900 cities and towns across the U.S. are overwhelmed by excess stormwater runoff, releasing untreated water to surface water bodies. Rainwater itself is often contaminated with a wide range of airborne contaminants from hydrocarbons to VOCs, pesticides and heavy metals. Urban areas maintain ambient temperatures as much as 10º F. higher than surrounding or rural areas, increasing cooling loads of all buildings, energy consumption and the creation of harmful smog. Green roofs can provide a solution to these problems. They effectively reduce stormwater runoff, prolong roof life, improve the energy performance of buildings and cut peak electricity demand, improve air quality, improve urban ecology and even reduce noise. Tremco has developed a cost-effective, high performance green roof system to help encourage building owners to consider this environmentally responsible building strategy.

Air Barriers - Air leakage is an extremely efficient means of transporting moisture. As hot, humid air contacts colder surfaces/temperatures condensation occurs and moisture accumulates, creating a potential breeding ground for mold, mildew and other airborne organisms. The control of air leakage and the resulting moisture accumulation can help prevent structural damage. In addition, controlling air leakage also improves the indoor air quality of a building and provides significant energy efficiencies since it is estimated that air leakage can account for as much as 40% of a structure’s heat loss/gain. Tremco offers an air barrier system that has been thoroughly tested to meet or exceed the most rigorous standards for air permeability, ensuring extended building durability and energy efficiency.

Firestopping - Firestopping, or passive fire protection, is designed to contain fire and smoke from infiltrating the rest of the building. Installed during construction, firestopping, in the event of a fire, saves lives and property by containing damaging flames and gasses. Required by commercial building codes such as the International Building Code, firestopping systems are tested at independent laboratories to ensure proper fire ratings. Tremco offers intumescent products – sealants and devices – that expand when exposed to fire to close off annular spaces or openings in fire walls, preventing the spread of smoke and fire.

Residential Barrier Solutions - Barrier Solutions for the residential building envelope are the practical application of the science and technology behind building science to control the movement of moisture, heat and gas throughout the structure. Leveraging the technical capability, experience and innovation gained over 20 years in the residential foundation waterproofing industry, Tremco Barrier Solutions will bring to market other systems that will provide energy savings, moisture control and increased satisfaction to builders and homeowners alike. One of these innovations is the Above-Grade Foundation Finishing System, which incorporates seamless waterproofing protection from footer to sill plate while insulating the exposed above- grade portion of the foundation wall – an area that accounts for as much as 40% of a home’s energy loss.
